Anaheim Packing District

Working in the entertainment industry is a great thing during the holidays because we get 2 weeks off!  I know its not the entire entertainment industry, but I think a grand majority of us get a much needed vacation during the last 2 weeks of the year.  I mean do you think actors really want to be working on movies or tv shows during this time? Nope! Which is why everything shuts down.  Sorry if it sounds like I’m rubbing it in your face, if you don’t have the days off, I’m just so excited about it!

I’ve been wanting to go to the Anaheim Packing District, specifically the Anaheim Packing House, for a while now.  The Anaheim Packing House is a giant food hall that is actually a restored and renovated Sunkist Packing house.  I’m not really sure how I heard about it first, but seeing pictures of the interiors and the food made it look amazing and it didn’t disappoint.  Granted I couldn’t try eveything during my visit, I don’t think you can go wrong with any choice here.  I rounded up the must-trys in my two favorite categories, sweets and cheese, for your next visit:

Sweets:

POPSICLES - The Pop Bar is the coolest idea to hit the dessert scene.  You choose your popsicle [ice cream, gelato or sorbet] and choose to eat it naked or dipped or drizzled in chocolate and toppings.  Not only is it awesome, it’s oh so pretty!  My concoction is pictured below.

CREPES - Crepes are both fun to watch being made and eat. Grab a coffee or tea here while you’re at it!

WAFFLE SANDWICHES - Waffles and sandwiches don’t seem like they go together until you make it to the Iron Press.  They have 24 local and imported beers on tap and savory and sweet waffle sandwiches, yum.

HANDMADE ICE CREAM - If you’re craving a frozen sweet, there is no shortage here, but Hans’ Handmade Ice Cream offers onsite homemade ice creams and some great flavors like maple bacon.

CANDY - If you head downstairs, the first thing you'll see if an assortment of colorful candy jars.  Have at it!

Cheese, Please:

GRILLED CHEESE BAR - The Black Sheep Grilled Cheese bar is literally heaven.  You can’t go wrong with any option here.  It also might take you forever to choose because literally everything on the menu looks delish.

GOAT CHEESE NAAN - This naan from Adya is stuffed with Laura Chenel Chrevre and black pepper.  I really don’t think you can go wrong with goat cheese and naan together.

CHEESE CURDS - The only hard part at Kroft is deciding whether to waste calories on the cheese curds or poutine.

Like I said I couldn't try all the food I wanted here, but I will definitely be making another trip down to the Anaheim Packing House.  It only took a little under an hour to drive down from LA.  Not too bad of a trip.  Check out the Anaheim Packing District, here.
