Cocktails With a Twist

I'm an extremely indecisive person, and ordering a drink at the bar is always a challenge.  What do I choose? The struggle was real. During college, I always ordered really sweet drinks.  You know, cocktails with peach schnapps or grenadine -  basically anything where you couldn’t taste the alcohol. Girly drinks, you might say. When I graduated from college, I decided I wanted to order something more sophisticated. A grown up drink.

A few years ago, I commissioned a coworker at a work retreat to help me choose a favorite cocktail.  Each round was a new drink. Needless to say, I can't remember what all the options were now, but it was a successful experiment. I found my drink of choice - a Jameson ginger (Jameson Whiskey + Ginger Ale).  Yes, whiskey. I know, I was shocked too. 

Maybe you have Spring Break coming up. Maybe you just need a cocktail (Mondays, am I right?). Either way, I have the perfect drink for you and your friends to enjoy the next time you need to relax. This drink is a perfect twist on the classic using my new go-to mixer, Barritt’s Ginger Beer.

Confession: I actually hate ginger. You know that mound of pickled ginger they serve with sushi at Japanese restaurants? I quickly push it to the side; it's just too strong of a taste for me. Last night, I had a Moscow Mule that used a ginger beer and it was way too ginger-y for me. That's why I was so surprised when I first tried Barritt’s Ginger Beer.  It was light and best of all (for me), it didn’t have that really intense ginger taste.  Also, I just love well designed packaging and pretty branding, which Barritt's has. 

Below is my new go-to drink of choice.  I think it's got that refreshing taste and twist to a classic cocktail that you'll all love as well.  Enjoy it with your friends and you'll be sure to have a great night!

JAMESON GINGER WITH A TWIST:
2 oz Jameson Whiskey
4 oz Barritt’s Ginger Beer
1 oz Lime Juice

Mix ingredients together to taste.
Garnish with lime.
