New Year, New Dreams
I had dinner with a couple of friends the other week and the conversation led to how quickly this year has gone by. I know I probably say it every year, but really, this year has flown by. When I can vividly remember something that happened back in February, it really has gone by fast. The topic turned to not even addressing New Years resolutions yet. My friend listed out a few she had for herself; eat healthier, be on time etc... However, has since not been able to see these through. I started questioning myself. What was my resolution? Have I taken any steps to accomplish it? I then remembered my resolution was simply one word, free. Be free. Free from worries. Free from unnecessary stress. Free to live life. Free to be the person I imagine myself to be.
Before this resolution, I had gotten stuck in a life that did not feel like me. At times, I was controlling, quick to judge and more or less complacent. I had become someone who did not live life to the fullest and just simply enjoy life. As I began to let go, as a result of my resolution, I started to feel more like my true self. It's pretty hard to admit this, but I think sharing my story might be able to strike a chord in someone else. Thinking back to January, I realized that a year ago did seem a little longer ago than at first thought. This simply because I am and have been living out my resolution. I think this blog is pure evidence of that.
Choosing another a resolution is a really hard thing to do. I feel like I’m putting a little too much stress on it because I had a really great one this past year. I don’t want to choose something cliché because it really feels like more pressure to see it through. I think that it’ll just come as the year starts to unfold. I’m going to look at it as more of making new dreams instead of a resolution. I feel like chasing your dreams is the most fun adventure of all and much more rewarding.
Hope you all have a safe and happy new year. Cheers to 2016!
