The Struggles of a 9 to 5

Struggles of a 9 to 5 - Shannon Did What?

Have any of you wanted to just up and quit your job to travel the world? Or just you know not be sitting at a desk from 9 to 5?  Or in my case 9:30 to 6:30.  Well, I'm right there with you.  That thought crosses my mind probably daily.  But alas, I'm not that brave and then I remember I need to earn money to pay rent.  A girl can dream though, right?

I think one of the worst parts about sitting at work is looking on social media and seeing so many others traveling the world, broadening their horizons and discovering new things in foreign lands.  I have a long list of places and things I want to see.  It's a pretty extensive list and I'm just itching to continue crossing them off.  Iceland, Thailand, Australia, India are all at the top of my list.  Or even traveling around the US visiting national parks and quirky things to see on the side of the road.  Sometimes I forget how many beautiful places there are to go in the US.  I know, I know. I have a really bad case of wanderlust, or as my mom would say, I've got that bug.

And then there's always the struggle of debating where to go on those much needed and too few vacation days. Planning my vacations for this year was difficult because there are so many places I want to go.  Then I remember that I would be so excited to go anywhere so, the struggle is more a blessing.

The struggle is real, everyday, but in the end I'm so glad to be able to go so many places and see the things I've gotten to see.  But, oh man, these 9 to 5's can be such a struggle.  Just gotta find that work-life balance.  For now, I'll stick to planning my vacations and seeing how many local trips I can make on the weekends.  Maybe I'll have a blog post in the future about weekend trips or 1-day trips you can make from Los Angeles.  Palm Springs, Big Bear, Arrowhead, Santa Barbara or San Diego, there are so many options.
